Sci-Hub obtains papers from a variety of sources, including academic institutions, researchers, and individuals who have access to academic journals. It uses a technique called "guerrilla open access" to obtain papers by accessing them through institutional subscriptions, sharing networks, or by using login credentials from individuals who have authorized access. Sci-Hub's founder, Alexandra Elbakyan, has also stated that she and a network of supporters actively work to obtain and share papers to make them freely accessible to the public. However, it's important to note that Sci-Hub's methods have been controversial and have led to legal challenges from academic publishers. **
